Based on Salvador Dalí’s original illustrations created in 1954–1955.
This work is an original color lithograph by Salvador Dalí from his celebrated Les Fables de La Fontaine series, created as illustrations for the classic French fables of Jean de La Fontaine. According to a professional appraisal, this lithograph is hand-signed by Dalí and numbered 59/250, and was acquired as part of a complete set at auction in the 1970s. Printed on fine laid paper with deckled edges, the piece reflects Dalí’s distinctive surrealist style through symbolic imagery, elongated forms, and dreamlike landscapes. The Fontaine Fables series is widely collected as an important example of Dalí’s mature graphic work and his collaboration with a cornerstone of European literature, making individual works from this series desirable for both collectors and display.
