Description:

Offered is a group of original American banking and financial documents, dating from the late 19th century through the mid-20th century, including handwritten bank checks, drafts, and a U.S. Treasury payment.

This lot includes:

  • Multiple 19th-century bank checks issued by early American financial institutions, many with revenue stamps, endorsements, and cancellation markings

  • Documents from banks operating in Chicago, New York, Iowa, and other U.S. cities

  • A 1946 U.S. Treasury check, issued through the Federal Reserve system following World War II

These documents feature original pen signatures, engraved vignettes, period typography, and official stamps, offering a tangible look at American banking and commerce before the age of automation.

Condition ranges from fragile to well-handled, with folds, creases, edge wear, toning, staining, and paper thinning consistent with age and use. Some items show ink bleed, cancellations, or punch marks typical of redeemed financial instruments. No cleaning or restoration has been attempted.

This is a strong collector, research, or display lot, ideal for collectors of American banking history, financial ephemera, revenue-stamp material, or 19th-century business documents.

Sold as a single lot.
