Description:

Offered is a large and diverse group of World War II–era Japanese occupation paper currency, issued by the Japanese government for use in occupied territories during the early 1940s, primarily in the Philippines and the Dutch East Indies (present-day Indonesia).

This extensive lot includes a wide range of denominations, such as:

  • 100 Pesos

  • 10 Pesos

  • 5 Pesos

  • 1 Peso

  • 50 Centavos

  • 10 Centavos

  • 5 Centavos

  • 1 Cent

  • Additional low-denomination occupation issues

All notes are boldly marked “The Japanese Government” or equivalent foreign-language versions, and feature classic occupation-era designs including industrial scenes, palm trees, architectural imagery, and denomination medallions. Several languages and formats are represented, reflecting Japan’s rapid monetary replacement across multiple occupied regions.

Condition varies throughout the group, with most notes in circulated to heavily circulated condition, showing folds, creases, edge wear, staining, thinning, and occasional losses consistent with wartime use and post-war survival. No notes have been cleaned or restored.

Japanese occupation currency—often referred to as Japanese Invasion Money—is widely collected for its historical significance, representing daily commerce under military rule during World War II. This lot offers an excellent opportunity to acquire multiple denominations and issuing regions in a single offering, making it ideal for collectors, historians, or study and display purposes.

Sold as a single lot.
