Description:

A distinctive collection of hand-carved New Mexico folk art featuring works by two highly regarded Santa Fe artists. Included is a rare standalone rabbit carving by noted folk artist Todocio James Valdez (1927–1999), whose whimsical hand-painted carvings are widely collected and increasingly difficult to find. Standalone animal carvings by Valdez are considered uncommon, making this rabbit an especially desirable example of his work. Valdez is recognized for his colorful Southwestern folk art carvings and character studies that captured the spirit and humor of New Mexico life.

Also included is an authentic hand-carved and painted coyote by acclaimed Santa Fe folk artist Jorge Rodriguez, known for his iconic Southwestern coyote sculptures. Rodriguez's coyotes have become emblematic of Santa Fe folk art and remain popular among collectors of Southwestern and New Mexican decorative arts.

Together, these two carvings represent the rich tradition of New Mexico folk art and offer collectors a unique opportunity to acquire works from two respected Santa Fe artists in a single lot. A wonderful addition to any collection of Southwestern art, folk art, rustic décor, or New Mexico cultural artifacts.
