Description:

*THIS IS A NOTE FROM THE COLLECTOR WITH HIS PERSONAL PHOTOS!* DO NOT BID! *
From 1974 to 1978 my three brothers and I attended a lot of spring training games in South Florida. I was fortunate enough to be a Batboy for the Texas Rangers during the 1975 spring training season! That summer, there was a game against the Kansas City Royals during which I got the team signed ball with George Brett when he was a rookie (ball in this auction). (also see photos below). I took the pictures with my camera on the field and in the dugout. I then took them back to a later game to have them signed. The game was being broadcast back in Texas as a spring training special on the Rangers. Tony Kubek was one of the broadcasters, that’s how I obtained his signature on a business card someone gave me. The Rangers baseball complex was very fan friendly back then, there was so much easy access to obtain autographs as well as foul balls and the occasional broken or cracked bat.

The Yankees baseball complex in Ft Lauderdale was also very fan friendly back then, there was so much easy access to obtain autographs as well as foul balls. George Steinbrenner would watch many games in the stands with the fans and would oblige any autograph request. The Yankees, because of their great history, had many former players as guest coaches during spring training, many of whom were Hall of Famers.  The 80s and 90s were full of signing events in Vegas and other cities, where I continued to collect autographs.

**The owner of these items is a lifetime collector. A former Bat Boy for the Texas Rangers in 1975 who had access to most of the baseball greats during Spring training events. He even lockered next to Fergie Jenkins (A Ranger at the time).  Having access to these players, he carried baseballs, bats, and cards with him, he always had something to sign.  During the 80s & 90s he went to numerous card signing events and paid to have items signed, hundreds over the years.  He remembers almost every signature!  This is just a fraction of his massive collection he is allowing us to auction as he begins to downsize.
