Description:

A pair of vintage clear glass compote dishes with etched floral patterns on the sides. Each dish features a pedestal base and a scalloped, faceted bowl design. These elegant compote dishes are ideal for serving desserts, fruits, or decorative centerpieces. Their vintage styling suggests early- to mid-20th century origin.

Early American Pressed Glass (EAPG) refers to machine-pressed glassware produced in the US from the mid-19th century until the early 20th century.  This era saw significant advancemenbts in glass manufacturing technology, allowing for the mass production of intricate and affordable tableware and decorative items.  EAPG is characterized by its detailed patterns, often featuring floral motifs, geometric designs, and figural elements, making it highly collectible today.

The Bryce Higbee Company, founded in Pittsburgh, PA, was a prominent manufacturer of EAPG.  The 'Rival' pattern, also known as 'Paneled Sprig' or 'Indian Tree', is a well-recognized design from their production.
